Diesel Emissions Evaluation
This research project is creating an historical evaluation of the evolution
of diesel equipment in conjunction with major suppliers of open pit mining
equipment and engines. With the goal of clarifying information related
to diesel emissions, the final document will serve as a reference for mine
permitting and environmental, health, and safety issues. A provisional report was presented at the 1999 Annual General Meeting of the Canadian
Institute of Mining, Metallurgy, and Petroleum.
The position of the Surface Mining Association for Research and Technology (SMART) with respect to emissions related to the operation of mobile equipment in surface mining applications can be found in the Jan-2000 memorandum (by Mr. Gerry Krause, SMART chairperson).
In April 2009, Gord Winkel, SMART chairperson, issued the following document "Diesel Emission Related to the Operation of Large Mobile Equipment in Surface Mining Operations."
